There are three categories in which students may accumulate points during the school year, (1) daily participation points, (2)fitness tests, and (3) cognitive component (written homework/projects/tests). All excused missing points in Ms. Maier’s PE class can be made-up any time prior to the last day of the given quarter.
Daily Point Make-ups: TWO OPTIONS OPTION 1 - Fitness Make-up Workout (1 Workout is worth 5 daily points) Students must complete a minimum of 2 workouts prior to completing any articles (Option 2)

Do the required activities on the workout handout and have your parent verify your completion of the workout by signing the paper.
Turn the workout handout in to Ms. Maier at roll call.
OPTION 2 - Article Reviews (1 review is worth 5 daily points) - See Research Articles under Student Resources on the main menu for ideas Only 2 articles will be accepted during each semester. Students must complete a minimum of 2 workouts prior to completing any articles Additional make ups will need to be completed using OPTION 1 unless prior written arrangements have been made with Ms. Maier
Print/cut out an article that relates to Physical Education or Nutrition.
READ WITH PURPOSE - Show active reading strategies on your copy of the article by marking up the text, noting unfamiliar vocabulary, making comments, asking clarifying questions, predicting within the text, evaluate the authors statements, and making connections.
Write at least a two paragraph review of the article. The first paragraph should be a summary of the article and the second paragraph should explain how it relates to PE.
Make sure your name, period and roll call number are on your paper (typed papers are appreciated).
Staple your review to the article and turn it in to Ms. Maier at roll call.
MEDICAL EXCUSES from a doctor - lasting longer than 3 weeks (15 days) consecutively
Students can make up using option 2 for these days only
Fitness Test Make-ups (Make-Up Days):
Any fitness test in which full credit was not received may be made-up as many times as it takes for the student to earn full credit. Fitness tests can be made-up, on Mondays, during the regular class period, prior to the end of a given quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to notify Ms. Maier at the start of class if he or she would like to do a make-up fitness test. The student can earn back full credit on their fitness test if they complete the fitness test within 1 minute of their previous personal best time.
